Born from too many wasted Saturdays

The story of WatchWhere started in a New York City sports bar that didn't have my game.

The Problem

It's Saturday, 12:15pm. Liverpool kicks off in 15 minutes.

I'm standing outside my third bar in the East Village, looking through the window. No Peacock. No game. The bartender shrugs when I ask. "We have ESPN and FOX," he says. Cool. Not helpful.

This happened every single weekend.

Soccer in the US is a nightmare. Premier League on Peacock. Champions League on Paramount+. La Liga on ESPN+. MLS on Apple TV+. And that's just soccer. Try being an NFL fan who wants Red Zone. Or an NBA fan who follows an out-of-market team.

"I was spending more time finding where to watch than actually watching."

The Breaking Point

March 2024. Liverpool vs Manchester City. The biggest game of the season. I called ahead to three bars. All three said "yeah, we have it." I show up to the first one. They don't have Peacock. They thought I meant the United game on USA Network.

Strike one.

I walk 12 blocks to the second bar. They did have Peacock. But the game wasn't on any TV. They were showing March Madness. Every. Single. Screen. The manager said they "can't change it during a tournament."

Strike two.

Third bar. I walk in sweating, 20 minutes into the game. They have it on one TV in the corner, sound off, blocked by a pole. I watched the rest of the match standing, craning my neck, missing two goals because the angle was so bad.

That was the day I started building WatchWhere.

The Solution (That Didn't Exist)

I wanted something simple:

"Show me every place I can watch this specific game. Right now."

Not "sports bars near me." Not "bars with TVs." I needed:

Google couldn't tell me. Yelp couldn't tell me. The bar's Instagram story from 3 weeks ago couldn't tell me.

So I built it.

What WatchWhere Actually Does

We solve the problem I had every weekend:

1. Check what you already have at home. Maybe you already have the game. Maybe your cable package includes it. Maybe you have a free trial you forgot about. We check first before sending you anywhere.

2. Show you verified bars. Bars confirm which channels and streaming services they have. We cross-reference with the game schedule. You see only bars that definitely have your game.

3. Track your streaming mess. You probably have subscriptions you forgot about. Free trials you haven't used. Carrier perks you don't know exist (T-Mobile gives you Peacock for half price). We track all of it.

4. Save your go-to spots. Your favorite bar. Your friend's house with YouTube TV. Your parents' place with DirecTV. Save them all. See them all when you search for a game.

Who This Is For

If you've ever:

This is for you.

It's for the soccer fans who are tired of the streaming fragmentation. The NFL fans who just want Red Zone. The NBA fans following an out-of-market team. The hockey fans who can never find their regional sports network.

It's for people who love sports but hate the logistics of watching sports.

Why I'm Building This

Because I'm tired of wasting Saturdays.

Because sports are supposed to be fun, not a scavenger hunt.

Because streaming has made watching sports more complicated than it's ever been, and nobody's fixing it.

Because I want to walk into a bar knowing—not hoping—they have my game.

"I built WatchWhere because I needed it. If you're reading this, you probably need it too."

What's Next

Right now, WatchWhere covers 2,847 bars across 20 cities. We're adding more every week. Bars are claiming their listings. Users are finding their games.

The vision is simple: Never miss a game. Never waste money on streaming you don't need. Never show up to the wrong bar.

We're not trying to be the next social network. We're not trying to revolutionize sports. We're just trying to answer one question better than anyone else:

"Where can I watch this game?"

If that's a question you ask every weekend, you're in the right place.
